EHU supported HIV counseling and testing to every TB patient identified

EHU supported HIV counseling and testing to every TB patient identified. EHU mobilized PHA networks and VHT members to identify TB patients in the community for HCT, as well as the health facilities for identification of TB cases who have not undergone HCT.

EHU consider testing TB patients for HIV as part of standard care for TB. TB patients found to be HIV+ were enrolled into HIV care or referred to organizations providing HIV care for PLHIVs including MoH facilities.

By the closure of the year, a total of 34 TB patients were supported to access voluntary counseling and testing services and were all equipped with appropriate information and knowledge to prevent HIV infection and for those who tested positive, positive living was encouraged.

The clients who tested HIV positive were enrolled in the EHU Care, treatment and support or referred to other service providers as appropriate.
